Leadership 101 Programme Facts and Figures

Who?

  • Designed for leaders about to step up to their first leadership role or,

  • Those who are new in their time as a leader

The Leadership 101 Programme is also highly relevant to more senior leaders who have had a limited theoretical grounding in the art and science of leadership

What? 

  • The Leadership 101 Programme consists of seven modules, running over a six-month period.

  • Each module has a discrete theme of leadership and is of a half-day duration (8.30 am to 12.30 pm).

  • Modules occur at intervals of between 4-6 weeks.

  • Participants are expected to apply their learning from each module in the subsequent weeks, and their progress is reviewed in the next module. This provides a degree of accountability, which is often necessary to prompt action and the application of new learning.


Leadership 101 programme modules

The leadership themes of the Leadership 101 Programme modules are:

Module One: Knowledge of Self

  • building strategic self-awareness knowledge and insight utilising Deeper Signals or Hogan personality reports

  • developing initial behavioural goals for leadership effectiveness

Module Two: Introduction to Leadership

  • the role leaders play, and our expectations of leaders

  • self-leadership - mastering our own behaviour first

  • the key leadership behaviours of curiosity and humility

Module Three: Building Relationships - One to One

  • how we build influence and develop trust

  • understanding what motivates others

  • introduction to leadership styles

  • introduction to coaching skills

Module Four: Thinking about Thinking

  • understanding the difference between fast and slow thinking (intuition and deliberate thinking)

  • problem-solving and decision-making techniques

  • ethical decision making

Module Five: Leading Teams

  • the natural stages of group and team formation

  • building a high-performing team

  • understanding and managing conflict

Module Six: Culture and Change

  • understanding how cultures form, and how to influence them

  • understanding and leading change

Module Seven: Achieving Personal Change

  • goal setting

  • the utilisation of feedback and feedforward models

  • completion of a personal development plan

Public Programmes

There are no public Leadership 101 Programmes currently scheduled - Team Leader’s current focus is on providing programmes for organisations and businesses. When public programmes are scheduled, full details including module dates are available on the programme pages.

The Leadership 101 Programme can be run anywhere in New Zealand, provided there are at least ten participants. Contact Team Leader if you would like to make this happen.
